The war that Russia started against Ukraine in 2014 revealed immediately the shortage of modern high-performance weapons, equipment and machinery. Both public defense industry companies and private producers accepted the challenge of offering new effective solutions for the military.
However, the effective model of the state defense industry has not been formed so far. Such a model has to meet the numerous challenges of the contemporary world. Despite its primary task of deterring threats, the defense industry is crucial for securing the trade routes. Moreover, it has to be cost-efficient, technological and competitive in the international market. After all, today the defense industry is an important tool for building international alliances, contributing a lot to interoperability of the armed forces of the states.
This forum is an attempt to start the first public discussion on the challenges and capabilities of Ukraine’s defense industry. It will contribute to finding adequate solutions for the Ukrainian defense industry of the future.
